Author Guidelines

General Information

Journal of Islamic Business and Enterprises is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes theoretical and empirical articles following Aims and Scope, and each manuscript must adapt the main topics of  Business Policy in the fields of Development Entreprises, Regional Islamic Businesss, International Islamic Businesss, Management Islamic Business, Culture Islamic Business, System Islamic Business, Employment Islamic Business, and Financial Policy covering the fields of Finance and Industry.

 

Manuscript Submission

Preparation of The Manuscript

Each manuscript submitted to Journal of Islamic Business and Enterprises is the result of original work, has never been published before and is not in process in other journals. Each manuscript must follow the aim and scope, well written under the author guidelines in the Journal of Islamic Business and Enterprises.

Authors should submit only papers that have been carefully proofread and polished. Manuscripts are accepted with the understanding that they are original or extended version of previously published papers in conferences and/or journals and that, if the work received an official sponsorship, it has been duly released for open publication. Before submission please make sure that your paper is prepared using the journal paper template. The authors must refer to JISBEN Journal for writing format and style (Please download and use as a template for initial manuscript submission in .DOCX or LATEX). Use of a tool such as EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero for reference management and formatting, and choose APA style. This will ensure fast processing and publication. Any papers not fulfilling the requirements based on the guideline to authors will not be processed.

Articles should be between 5000  and 7000 words in length. This includes all text, for example, the structured abstract, references, all text in tables, and figures and appendices.

Please allow 280 words for each figure or table.

Article classification

During the submission process, you will be asked to select a type for your paper; the options are listed below. If you don’t see an exact match, please choose the best fit:

  • Research Paper
  • Practitioner Paper
  • Research Note Ge

You will also be asked to select a category for your paper. The options for this are listed below. If you don’t see an exact match, please choose the best fit:

Research paper. Reports on any type of research undertaken by the author(s), including:

  • The construction or testing of a model or framework
  • Action research
  • Testing of data, market research or surveys
  • Empirical, scientific or clinical research
  • Papers with a practical focus

Viewpoint. Covers any paper where content is dependent on the author's opinion and interpretation. This includes journalistic and magazine-style pieces.

Technical paper. Describes and evaluates technical products, processes or services.

Conceptual paper. Focuses on developing hypotheses and is usually discursive. Covers philosophical discussions and comparative studies of other authors’ work and thinking.

Case study. Describes actual interventions or experiences within organizations. It can be subjective and doesn’t generally report on research. Also covers a description of a legal case or a hypothetical case study used as a teaching exercise.

Literature review. This category should only be used if the main purpose of the paper is to annotate and/or critique the literature in a particular field. It could be a selective bibliography providing advice on information sources, or the paper may aim to cover the main contributors to the development of a topic and explore their different views.

General review. Provides an overview or historical examination of some concept, technique or phenomenon. Papers are likely to be more descriptive or instructional (‘how to’ papers) than discursive

Structure of the manuscript

Title. The title must represent the main idea of the manuscript and write in an informative, accurate, concise and not multi-interpretative manner.

Author's names and institutions. The Author's names should be accompanied by the Author's institutions and email addresses, without any academic title. For a joint paper, one of the authors should be notified as to the corresponding Author.

The names of all contributing authors should be added to the ScholarOne submission; please list them in the order in which you’d like them to be published. Each contributing author will need their own ScholarOne author account, from which we will extract the following details:

  • Author email address (institutional preferred).
  • Author name. We will reproduce it exactly, so any middle names and/or initials they want featured must be included.
  • Author affiliation. This should be where they were based when the research for the paper was conducted.

In multi-authored papers, it’s important that ALL authors that have made a significant contribution to the paper are listed. Those who have provided support but have not contributed to the research should be featured in an acknowledgements section. You should never include people who have not contributed to the paper or who don’t want to be associated with the research. Read about our research ethics for authorship.

Abstract. Abstract contains a summary of articles with a range between 150-250 words written with the following structure:

Purpose – presenting new or novel research and key arguments of the problems that have been solved.

Methods – explaining the study's methods, tools, and datasets.

Findings – summarizing the main result of the research

Implication - explain the impact on future research and practical aspects based on the research's main findings.(optional)

Originality – explain the novelty and distinction of the paper from the existing literature.

Keywords - Three to five appropriate and short keywords that capture the principal topics of the paper. 

 

Introduction

The introduction is the paper's broad beginning that consists of three important aspects: study background, research problems, and theoretical frameworks.

Methods

The methods section describes data and techniques/tools used to investigate a research problem. The methods consist of identifying the source and any problems or special features of the data, describing the model and techniques/tools, explain the features of techniques/tools that may affect the results.

Results and Discussion

The results section reports the findings of the study based on applying the models using techniques/tools to gather information. This section must consist of identify the results to answer your research question, interpreting and describing the significant findings of the research, and discussing the findings with the existing literature. The results section should state the research findings arranged in a logical sequence without bias or interpretation.

Conclusion

The conclusion sections must consist of the main points or main findings, indicate further research lines, explain the limitations of this study, and provide policy implications.

Acknowledgment

Acknowledge anyone who contributed to the article who does not meet the criteria for the authorship. Your article must reference all sources of external research funding in the acknowledgements section. You should describe the role of the funder or financial sponsor in the entire research process, from study design to submission. If you do not have anyone to acknowledge, please write 'not applicable in this section.

References

This section lists only the papers, reference books, or other types of publications referred to in the manuscript's body. The manuscript is expectedly to involve primary and updated references.

 

Manuscript Requirements

General Writing Format

  1. The manuscript is prepared in an A4 paper, single-sided, and single line spacing format. A new paragraph should start 5 characters from the left margin, using 12-size, Times New Romans font type.
  2. The manuscript is written in proper English.
  3. The top and bottom margins are 1 inch.
  4. The title is written using capital letters only at the first word or special name (example: location name), 14 font size, and centre position.
  5. Subtitles are written using capital letters only at the first word or special name, 12 font size, starting from the left margin.
  6. Sub of subtitles, if any, are written using capital letters only at the first word or special name. They should be started from the left margin.
  7. Sub of a sub of subtitles, if any, are written using capital letters only at the beginning of each word except for connecting words, all in italics. They should be started from the left margin.
  8. References should be those of the last ten years' publication (>80%), except for key references (80%). Referring to any textbook should be minimized (<20%).

Specific Writing Format

  1. Equations and formulas should be numbered as (1), (2). etc., appearing to their right.
  2. Estimation results from a software package cannot be directly presented in the paper. They should be presented in summary tables.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be presented as follows:

  1. The name of tables and figures should follow a numbering system (Arabic numbering system). The title of the tables and figures are placed at the top and the bottom, respectively.
  2. The tables and figures should provide the source of information, if any, at the bottom.
  3. Any table should contain only the heading and contents. The table contains row lines only without column lines. Note(s) and source(s) should be included underneath the table where appropriate.

 

Citation And References

Citation

Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). All citations in the text should refer to APA (American Psychological Association) style.

Three or more authors – Kang et al. (2019), the cumulative effects of global stock market volatility and commodity shocks on output and consumer prices are the largest …  

Parenthetical citation format:

One Author – …frictions to trade are quantitatively important (Waugh, 2010).

Two authors – … players draw signals that contradict their predecessors' actions (Parys & Ash, 2018).

Three or more authors – …output and consumer prices are largest during the global financial crisis (Kang et al., 2019).

The Authors are recommended to use Mendeley Reference software.

 

References

The manuscript is expected to involve approximately 20-25 primary and up-to-date references to assert high-quality contributions to knowledge development. Citations and references must strictly follow the APA (American Psychological Association) style. References should include only works cited within the text of the manuscript. Consulting the APA style manual (http://www.apastyle.org/pubmanual.html) is strongly recommended for completing manuscript submissions.

How To Send The Manuscript

Submission

An author should first register as Author and may be offered as a Reviewer through the following address: link for a new author and registered Author.

After all form textbox was filled, the Author clicked on the "Register" button to proceed with the registration. Therefore, the Author is brought to an online author submission interface where Author should click on "New Submission". The following are five steps in the online submission process:

Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select the article in the Journal section. Click save and continue.

Step 2 - Uploading the Submission: Click Choose file on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file (.doc/.docx) to be submitted, then click Upload button until the file has been uploaded. Do not upload supplementary files here. Click save and continue.

Step 3 - Entering Submission's Metadata: In this step, detail all authors metadata should be entered including the marked corresponding author. After that, the manuscript title and Abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox, then type keywords in Indexing column. Click save and continue

Step 4 - Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary files should be uploaded with relevant information (if any). Therefore, click on the Choose file button and then click on the Upload button. Click save and continue.

Step 5 - Confirming the Submission: The author is doing a final check of the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to JISBEN, click the Finish Submission button after the documents are true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgement by email and will be able to view the submission's progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site.

 

Final Decision

The manuscript decision is based on a peer-reviewing process. The decision on the acceptability of the manuscript for publication will be notified to author (s) through the website system in the following alternative conclusions:

Accepted without revision, or

Accepted with minor revision, or

Accepted with major revision, or

Rejected.

 

Revision of manuscripts

After revision, manuscripts sent back to the authors should be returned to the editor without delay. The revised manuscript should be uploaded to the Online Submission Interface in the "Upload Author Version" from the Review task window. The revised document should include:

 

One (1) MS Word file for Revision Note file in a table form with respect to Reviewers' comments including the location of the revision on the revised manuscript. Download Form Revision here.

One (1) MS Word file for Revised Manuscript file according to Template-based format (MS Word file) (Important: please color red highlight the revised sentences). The revised manuscript returned later than two months will be considered as a new submission and will be reviewed again by other peer-reviewers.
